Palm trees swaying in the breeze🌴, lava flowing into the sea🌋 , sea turtles basking on sunlit shores🐢—that was my gym this Spring Break.⁣
⁣
I packed a few travel fitness tools with good intentions, but they never left my suitcase. I didn’t step foot in the resort’s well-equipped gym either. Instead, I chose sunrise yoga on the beach and bike rides along the lava fields.⁣
⁣
I left my wellness powders and pills behind. In their place? A jungle man with a machete who climbed a tree and cracked open a fresh coconut🥥 for me—real coconut, real pineapple, real piña coladas.⁣
⁣
When you salute the sun☀, walk barefoot on the earth🌍, and nourish your body with the fruits of the land🍍, you don’t need to 'practice' wellness. Living in harmony with nature is the ultimate wellness.⁣

Sometimes, I search for a quick recipe online, whi Sometimes, I search for a quick recipe online, whip it up, and never think about it again. But other times, I stumble upon something truly special—a cookbook with an entire culture and movement behind it. That’s when I go all in, immersing myself in the stories, the authors, and the inspiration behind the recipes.⁣
This happened recently with the cookbook 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗛𝗮𝗽𝗽𝘆 𝗣𝗲𝗮𝗿 20: 𝗥𝗲𝗰𝗶𝗽𝗲𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘀 𝗙𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗙𝗶𝗿𝘀𝘁 20 𝗬𝗲𝗮𝗿𝘀, which my vegan husband, who’s always encouraged my plant-based culinary adventures, gifted to me. 💚 ⁣
We’d previously listened to the vibrant, veggie-loving brothers Stephen and David Flynn on 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗛𝗮𝗽𝗽𝘆 𝗣𝗲𝗮𝗿 𝗣𝗼𝗱𝗰𝗮𝘀𝘁, where their passion for food, health, and community shines through.⁣

To fully embrace the experience, I recently took a little excursion while visiting Dublin, Ireland. I hopped on a train to the charming seaside town of Greystones and landed at 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗛𝗮𝗽𝗽𝘆 𝗣𝗲𝗮𝗿 𝗖𝗮𝗳é. I enjoyed a fabulous feast: a veggie-packed lasagna made with fresh ingredients grown on the Happy Pear's nearby farm. 🌿 The recipes have been refined over 20 years of love and care, and let me tell you—they’re worth the hype!⁣

For me, getting sweaty often means a heart-pumping, heat-building workout. But I’m equally obsessed with getting my sweat on sauna-style. 🧖‍♀️⁣
I sauna several times a week in my home infrared sauna, take full advantage of hotel saunas when I travel, and occasionally stumble upon unique outdoor sauna experiences🤔.⁣
Recently, while exploring Ireland🍀, I discovered 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗕𝗮𝗿𝗿𝗲𝗹 𝗦𝗮𝘂𝗻𝗮—an outdoor sauna and cold plunge setup in a converted parking lot by the ocean. Picture this: a massive wooden barrel with a wood-burning stove, cold plunge barrels of varying temperatures, outdoor showers, and a frosty sea breeze. An attendant stoked the fire and topped up the icy barrels as I arrived—it was such a vibe!⁣
It only took 15 minutes in the cozy wood-heated Barrel to reach my heat tolerance level. I stepped outside into the brisk, salty air. My body felt deeply heated, and the cool ocean breeze was the perfect invigorating contrast. 🌊❄⁣

No one's ever called me a rebel—I'm more of a rule follower. But when crates of fruit juice show up at my door, I can't help but feel like a renegade! While others shy away from fruit juice, I'm here stockpiling it for my daily fruit juice shots. The sugar concentration might terrify some, but am I scared? Not a chance!⁣

Check out this throwback to my 1980s youth – I found my Barbie's home gym! Back then, it boasted a full stack of weights, a lat pulldown bar, dmbbells, and a bench with multiple inclines. The locker's back featured a mirror and a Barre, complemented by a pink stationary bicycle. Barbie rocked a unitard, leg warmers, and a headband, complete with little blue dumbbells clipped to her hands. Don't forget her crisp white sneakers and workout towel!⁣

In 1984, when Barbie's workout station debuted, I was just 7. Gyms were unfamiliar territory; neither my home nor any family friends boasted fitness gear. Mom occasionally did aerobics with Charlene Prickett on TV in our living room, and that's all I knew about fitness.⁣

Still, I guided Barbie and Ken through their workouts. Now, 40 years later, I'm still crafting workouts. Despite decades of research in exercise science, my routines aren't far off from Barbie's in the '80s. The moves remain similar; I just use tech-heavy gear like my Peloton cycle, and my AI-assisted Tonal for pulling movements. ⁣
