Getting I.C.E.'d

Welcome New Fitness Leader!bcrpa Getting I.C.E.d

I can help you on your journey to become a Fitness leader and Registered Personal Trainer. I am a BCRPA Supervisor of Fitness Leaders (SFL) & ICE Evaluator (Weight training).

About getting ICE’D

The BCRPA Instructor Competency Evaluation (ICE) is an important step in preparing to become a Fitness leaders, whether you wish to work in a fitness setting or eventually become a personal trainer. This practical evaluation is a unique opportunity for you to ‘hit the floor’ and go live with a client and to truly apply all of your coursework and practical training.

An ICE evaluation is completed by an experienced Fitness Professional who has been specially trained to assess whether a potential fitness leader has a good grasp of the information and can present it clearly.

It can be a bit nerve racking and it’s important that  you demonstrate a clear understanding of fitness concepts, but if you have studied hard, trained hard and know your stuff, it’s a breeze!

About the WEIGHT TRAINING ICE

Part A

There is a written component. This must be completed in full and submitted to your I.C.E evaluator PRIOR to your evaluation for marking. This includes a written exam booklet as well as a log of weight training programs. ICE Package. You are responsible for ensuring your written materials are delivered (mail, in-person) to the evaluator.

Part B

There is a verbal exam. There are no surprises.  All questions come from your written answers so if you know your material you will be fine. It maybe helpful to practice answering your questions out loud so you are comfortable with the responses.

There is a practical exam. You will demonstrate EVERYTHING as it appears on your ICE form. You may not necessarily be notified or prompted if you miss any steps or details so please be thorough. Practice going through the entire ICE form with a friend.
